Reach chemical registration fees agreed

Member state committee adopts price list for operations carried out by firms under new substance policy

EU governments have approved the fees that chemical firms will be charged for various operations carried out under the Reach policy reform. Voting on Monday, a committee of member state representatives backed a new EU regulation on Reach fees, based on European commission proposals.

The fees will be payable for submitting registration and authorisation dossiers to the European chemicals agency (Echa), for updating registrations and for appealing against regulatory decisions. There will be big discounts for smaller firms and for firms that cooperate on registrations.
