The Danish Society for Nature Conservation, Denmark's biggest environmental NGO, has complained to the European Commission that Danish river basin management plans are "diluted to such a degree that the goals can not possibly be reached".
Member states were required to submit their plans to the commission by 22 March. But Denmark is still consulting on the issue. The Danish NGO says targets in the plans had been "shaved down" in response to pressure by the agriculture sector.
