CO2 goals must be part of Cancún deal – EU

Emission reduction pledges made by all large emitters including China and India must feature in the package of non-binding decisions expected to be agreed at December's climate meeting in Cancún, a European Commission official said on Wednesday.

This would bring the pledges into the UN climate negotiations, he told journalists at this week's climate talks in China. These goals cannot be debated because they are listed in the Copenhagen accord which has not been endorsed by the UN.
