Europe slow to deliver on waste prevention – EC

There has been limited progress on waste prevention as part of a 2005 thematic strategy on this issue, an EU executive official told a conference held by waste industry association FEAD on Friday. But there are positive results for recycling.

The official was presenting the initial results of a commission review of the strategy. Some member states are doing better than others. The most successful ones tend to have the right combination of legal and economic instruments for local circumstances.
