Industry calls for energy efficiency task force

A group of trade associations involved in the manufacturing of energy efficient products has called for the creation of a high-level task force to help boost their market take-up. Energy efficiency is not receiving sufficient attention, they say.

On Tuesday, industry representatives urged energy commissioner Günther Oettinger to focus on five factors that they say are key to ensure the EU achieves its non-binding 20% energy efficiency target for 2020. These are "conviction, cash, compliance, communication and compulsory targets".
