EU too complacent in cutting CO2 – Hedegaard

EU climate commissioner Connie Hedegaard has criticised Europe for being too lax in reducing CO2 emissions, repeating her plea for a more ambitious target ahead of a meeting of environment ministers in Luxembourg on Thursday.

"I am afraid we are getting too complacent," she said at a debate organised by wind power association EWEA in Brussels on Wednesday. "Carbon leakage is not a one-way street," she argued. "We can also lose jobs if we are not ambitious enough."
