Transport ministers meeting in Luxembourg on Friday reached political agreement on revised ‘Eurovignette’ rules allowing member states to charge lorries relative to the air and noise pollution they cause.
The deal is a critical step forward for the controversial legislation, which was tabled by the European Commission more than two years ago. Several EU presidencies have tried and failed to broker any compromise between the member states.
