Germany 'not respecting EU waste hierarchy'

German plans to transpose the 2008 Waste Framework Directive fail to respect the EU waste hierarchy, the German chapter of waste industry association FEAD has claimed.

The Federation of German Waste, Water and Raw Material Management (BDE) says the draft version of the new German Waste Act, which will implement the directive, has condensed steps two to four in the hierarchy – preparing for re-use, recycling and energy recovery – into one.
