EU still not fully compliant with IPPC, says EC

Many member states are still not fully compliant with the IPPC directive on industrial pollution, according to a European Commission report published on Tuesday. But implementation of the solvent emissions directive has been largely trouble-free.

The report assesses IPPC's implementation during the period 2006-08. Its analysis of the 1999 solvent directive covers the period 2003-07 and follows a report published in 2007. Compliance with the far more complex IPPC law has been beset by problems. Older installations had to have BAT-compliant permits by 30 October 2007.
