Registrations pick up as REACH deadline looms

The number of substances registered under the REACH chemicals legislation is rapidly increasing as the first registration deadline of 30 November approaches. The deadline is for substances produced or imported in large volume or those that are toxic.

As of Friday, an online tracking tool launched at a European Chemicals Agency (ECHA) stakeholder meeting in October shows 2,462 deadline substances successfully registered. The tool was developed so that downstream users, who use substances but are not involved in the registration process, can check to see if substances have been registered.
