Europe gives out €2.2bn in climate aid this year

Member states and the European Commission have committed to deliver €2.2bn in fast-start climate funding to developing countries this year, according to a report to be presented at the Cancún climate meeting starting at the end of this month.

This is just a little more than the €2.18bn already pledged in an earlier progress report issued by EU finance ministers in May. It is also short of the EU's target of €2.4bn annually between 2010 and 2012 to meet its overall €7.2bn pledge for this period.
