New EU warning over waste crisis in Naples

The Italian government is another step closer to fines for EU law non-compliance over the ongoing waste crisis in Naples and the Campanian region. On Friday, the European Commission issued another statement warning Italy of possible action.

Measures to comply with a European Court of Justice ruling issued this March are still not in place, according to a report submitted to environment commissioner Janez Potocnik this week. Mr Potocnik had already warned Italy over this in October.
