Ministers focus on WEEE, warm to 30% carbon cuts

Revisions to the EU’s WEEE directive on waste electronics were the central focus at today’s meeting of European environment ministers in Brussels. It also saw support grow for the EU to increase its 2020 greenhouse gas reduction target from 20% to 30%. Japan’s ongoing nuclear crisis hung over the meeting.

Late last week a breakthrough on the WEEE rules seemed to be on the cards. However, detailed talks were still continuing by Monday evening. ENDS Europe will report in full on the outcome on Tuesday.
