Members of the WEEE Forum, which represents 38 electronic waste collection schemes across Europe, have given the green light to industry standards on the collection, sorting, storage, transportation, treatment and disposal of such waste.
The standards, developed as part of the EU-funded WEEELABEX project, were approved at the WEEE Forum's annual assembly in Amsterdam last week. The objective is to ensure that its members apply the same standards across the EU. The parliament's environment committee called for such standards last year.
