EC unveils energy and transport infrastructure plans

The European Commission presented a package of proposals to better connect Europe's transport, energy and telecommunications infrastructure on Wednesday, but green groups questioned some of the measures’ environmental credentials.

The ‘connecting Europe’ package seeks to establish a single €50bn funding facility for the three sectors for the 2012-20 period, combined with a project bond initiative intended to lower the risks for private sector investors. There are also rules on project development.
