Improvements in the climate and energy policies of nine member states over the last year have been largely offset by backsliding in five other countries, according to the EU climate policy tracker developed by green group WWF and consultancy Ecofys.
In their second annual report, issued on Thursday, the two organisations call for more ambitious EU policies. In particular, they say emissions trading and energy efficiency rules should be tightened and note that these continue to be major national policy drivers.
