Durban prepares for start of high-level segment

Environmental groups have called on the US to step aside and let negotiators in Durban move on as ministers gather for the high-level segment of the climate meeting. Progress has been made on technical issues but the main outcomes remain uncertain.

The US – often accused of being obstructive – should move aside if it cannot agree to work towards a globally binding deal before 2020, Greenpeace International's executive director Kumi Naidoo said on Monday. WWF International and Oxfam shared similar views.
