New negotiating text highlights sticking points

An updated negotiating text released on Wednesday shows talks over the legal status of any future global climate deal, financing, and shipping and aviation emissions remain key sticking points in Durban.

The draft is an updated version of the 130-page amalgamated text circulated by the chair of the working group on long-term cooperative action (LCA) on Saturday. Discussions in the other negotiating track on the Kyoto Protocol are less transparent.
