Negotiators prepare for final day of climate talks

There were rumours that an agreement might be emerging in Durban as ENDS went to press on Thursday evening. The talks are due to finish by midnight on Friday but they might run long into the weekend as often during past meetings.

Several briefings were cancelled on Thursday and observers reported signs of a thawing in US and Canadian views on the EU's demand for a roadmap to a globally binding deal. Brazil also appeared open to the idea provided other major economies follow suit. Whether this is really the case behind closed doors remains to be seen.
