The European Commission's energy department has backtracked on its initial plan to consider renewable energy targets for 2030. It removed references to an interim target in the latest draft of its energy roadmap 2050, seen by ENDS.
An earlier draft said that "further renewables targets for 2030 could be an option since Europe is currently on the right track to achieve the targets for 2020". In the same paragraph on milestones, now scrapped entirely, the energy department also said interim targets on CCS and energy infrastructure could be envisaged.
