Additions to REACH candidate list confirmed

Another 20 substances are to be added to the REACH candidate list following a meeting of member state representatives last week. The additions include the first substance nominated for its endocrine disrupting properties, 4-tert-octylphenol.

The European Chemicals Agency (ECHA) consulted on the additions in the autumn. Eight of these substances will be automatically added to the candidate list. Concerns posed by the other 12 chemicals were discussed by a committee last week.
