Commission issues eco-innovation action plan

A long-awaited action plan to stimulate green growth in the EU was published by the European Commission on Thursday. This will be achieved through a mixture of regulation, funding, demonstration projects, and product verification and standards.

The Eco-Innovation Action Plan (Eco-AP) replaces the Environmental Technologies Action Plan, launched in 2004, and is broader, embracing any technology that can help meet the EU’s environmental objectives. It was promised as part of the 2010 Innovation Union strategy, intended to boost growth and jobs in Europe.
