Poland refused to back the EU's energy roadmap on Friday despite several efforts by the Danish presidency to engage with it on this issue. The country, which has also vetoed the low carbon roadmap, resists Europe's decarbonisation drive.

In a statement released on Friday, the Polish government reiterated that further carbon reductions in the EU should only be agreed if other industrialised countries take equivalent measures. The roadmap does not mention this key condition, it said.
