EFSA hit by new conflict of interest claim

Most members of the European Food Safety Authority's (EFSA) influential working group on thresholds of toxicological concern (TTC) used in chemical safety assessments have ties to industry or related lobby groups, according to NGO PAN Europe.

The claim was made days after the adoption of a new policy on independence and scientific decision-making by EFSA's management board. The NGO believes this policy is an improvement because it is based on the OECD's conflict of interest guidelines.
