Lower energy prices enjoyed in France are a key advantage to maintaining the competitiveness of its industry, the French government has been told

Lower energy prices enjoyed in France are a key advantage to maintaining the competitiveness of French industry, Louis Gallois, former head of aerospace group EADS, said in a report commissioned by the socialist government.

A crucial step towards retaining this advantage is to keep the door open to shale gas extraction, Mr Gallois told the government. Shale gas has been an important boost for the US industrial sector, he pointed out in the report.
