French CCS project in the lead for EU funding

The EU may fund only one CCS project under the first round of the NER300 programme, according to industry

A proposed carbon capture and storage (CCS) project at a mothballed steel mill in France may be the only demonstration CCS project to receive first-round NER300 funding, industry sources fear.

This is because the Ultra Low Carbon Dioxide Steelmaking (ULCOS) project at ArcelorMittal’s idled steelworks in Florange, France, is the only project meeting all of the commission’s funding criteria, sources in the CCS sector told ENDS.
