UNEP fires new warning shot over climate

UN scientists have issued another damning warning on the inadequacy of existing carbon reduction pledges, ahead of the next round of climate talks in Doha

UN scientists have issued another damning warning on the inadequacy of existing carbon reduction pledges, ahead of the next round of climate talks in Doha.

In a report published on Wednesday, scientists at the UN’s environment programme (UNEP) insisted that emissions must peak before 2020 if the world is to avoid a global temperature rise of over 2°C.

This point has been made by UNEP many times before and was also reiterated in the International Energy Agency’s latest World Energy Outlook about a week ago.
