Implementing EU environmental legislation will be given top priority in the period to 2020, the European Commission said on Thursday as it unveiled its new environmental action programme (7EAP).
The plan, which will succeed the EU’s sixth action programme, states that legislation “must be implemented in full” to meet targets in areas such as biodiversity, climate and energy. The aim was supported by EU ministers in June.
