Regulations on lorries’ size and weight based on performance-related standards significantly improve the efficiency of road transport, an industry study shows

Regulations on lorries’ size and weight based on performance-related standards such as those put in place in Canada have significantly improved the efficiency of road transport, according to an industry study.   

The study was released by automobile sector association ACEA this week as part of a European Commission review of the 1996 directive on weights and dimensions. Legislative changes will be put forward early next year.
