UN climate talks in Doha looked set to run over time into the weekend, on Friday, after negotiators failed to finalise their decisions on the most contentious issues including finance, surplus carbon allowances, and raising pre-2020 ambition.

Developing nations are likely to go home disappointed because rich nations have so far failed to commit to a new package of finance for climate mitigation and adaptation to replace the existing “fast-start finance” scheme, which is about to expire.
