Governments have returned from Doha without any major new pledges on climate mitigation

After two weeks of negotiations and amid a deluge of new scientific reports warning of the urgent need to reduce greenhouse gas emissions in the short term, governments have returned from Doha without any major new pledges on climate mitigation.

The current level of ambition on carbon reduction puts the world on track for global warming “well above 3°C”, analysts at Climate Analytics, the Potsdam Institute and Ecofys said in their latest “climate action tracker” report, published after the conference ended.
