France: nuclear safety should be peer-reviewed

National nuclear safety regulations should be peer-reviewed, French environment minister Delphine Batho told an IAEA conference at the weekend

National nuclear safety regulations should be peer-reviewed, French environment minister Delphine Batho told a conference held by the International Atomic Energy Agency in Japan to debate actions taken after the Fukushima disaster.

“Such reviews help us compare our practices with those of other countries and to identify the best measures. Having an outside perspective is key to [improving safety]”, Ms Batho said at the beginning of the conference on Saturday.
