The parliament’s environment committee has narrowly rejected proposals from right-wing political groups that would lead to weaker noise limits for sports cars and lorries compared with what the EU executive has put forward.
Alternative proposals backed by the socialist S&D group, the Liberals (ALDE), Green MEPs and the left-wing GUE/NGL group, which call for more ambitious noise limits for road vehicles, was adopted by 29 MEPs with 28 against.
