Negotiators strike deal on EU energy labelling law

MEPs and member states have reached an agreement on proposals to revise EU rules on energy labelling that will see the creation of a new "A+++" efficiency class for the most energy-saving household products.

The deal was hammered out following negotiations on Tuesday afternoon. It closely mirrors compromise proposals tabled by the Swedish EU presidency last week. But the full details have yet to emerge. The new rules will be reviewed in 2014.
