Greece could be hit with a €11.5m fine plus a €47,000 daily penalty for failing to fully implement the 1991 directive on urban wastewater treatment.

The European Commission has also asked the EU court to fine Austria €41,000 per day until it complies with the renewable energy directive.

The commission’s monthly infringements package, announced on Wednesday, includes 20 final warnings over other breaches of EU environmental law.
