The issue of compensation for loss and damage continues to divide delegates at the UN climate talks in Warsaw after a walkout by developing countries' representatives on Tuesday night.

It is still possible for progress to be made but wrangling over the institutional arrangements for dealing with this growing problem remains a major barrier, a South African delegate said on the sidelines of the conference as negotiations resumed on Wednesday evening.
