EU restrictions on halogen light bulbs due to enter force in 2016 should be postponed by more than two years or scrapped, industry representatives said on Monday.

The European Commission is considering delaying the stage 6 ecodesign requirements for non-directional bulbs, which are too tight for the current generation of halogen bulbs, by two years. It hopes this will allow LED technology to develop.
