Levels of polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons (PAHs) will be restricted in a range of consumer products from December 2015, after amendments to annex XVII of REACH were published in the EU’s official journal on Saturday.
The restriction bans eight PAHs from plastic and rubber products likely to come into prolonged contact with the skin or mouth include clothing, household tools, and sports equipment at levels over 1 milligram/kilogram.
