Industry, NGOs call for new energy label scales

The top EU energy efficiency label ranking should be set high enough to create a real incentive for front-runners and ensure the system can remain relevant, a consultation heard

The top ranking under the EU energy efficiency labelling scheme should be set at a level that is almost unachievable to create a real incentive for front-runners and ensure the labels stay relevant over time, industry and NGO representatives have suggested.

Household goods industry association CECED and a group of environmental NGOs made the recommendation in their responses to the European Commission’s recent consultation on EU energy labelling and ecodesign rules.
