Commission unveils swathe of EU waste targets

Brussels confirms it wants the EU to recycle 70% of all municipal waste by 2030 and ban the landfilling of recyclable materials by 2025

The European Commission has confirmed it wants the EU to recycle 70% of all municipal waste by 2030 and a ban on the landfilling of recyclable materials including plastics, paper, metals, glass and biodegradable waste by 2025.

A legislative proposal to revise six existing waste directives, unveiled on Wednesday, also confirms several other targets that were disclosed to the public in recent weeks.
