The EU’s new industry commissioner has pledged to cut the burden of REACH on small- and medium-sized businesses as part of a wider drive to improve implementation of the chemicals regulation.

But Elzbieta Bienkowska did not give a detailed explanation of how she will carry out her pledge to improve the implementation of REACH, and in particular the authorisation procedure, at her European Parliament hearing.
