MEPs rejected Alenka Bratušek as European Commission energy union vice-president but accepted Miguel Arias Cañete as climate and energy commissioner on Wednesday evening.
Both votes by the European Parliament’s environment and energy committees went through by large majorities, MEPs tweeted from the meeting.
The whole parliament will vote to accept or reject Jean-Claude Juncker's Commission on 22 October.
The MEPs' decision puts incumbent environment commissioner Janez Potocnik back in the race to take Slovenia’s seat in the new Commission.
