Consumer products, particularly mobile phones, toasters, hair dryers and kettles, offer the greatest potential for improvements through eco-standards, according to a draft consultancy report on future EU action in this area.

The consultants advising the European Commission on the 2015-2017 ecodesign work plan assessed sixteen product groups for their suitability to be included in the plan due to their potential to contribute to energy and resource savings. The products were selected for further analysis on the basis of a previous report.
