The Portuguese government has moved swiftly to implement recent recommendations by a commission of experts on green tax reform, approving CO2 and plastic bag charges.

Green tax credits have also been approved, including a rebate on motor tax of up to €4,500 for the purchase of electric vehicles, plug-in hybrids and other low-emission vehicles.

Consumers who chose not to replace their end-of-life vehicles will receive public transport vouchers worth up to €2,000.
