The EU court has upheld the European Commission’s controversial decision to approve Spanish government policies supporting power plants using indigenous coal.
The Commission was not obliged to “examine the compatibility of the measure with environmental protection provisions” and “was right to find that the measure would not result in an overall increase in CO2 emissions in Spain”, the court said on Wednesday.
