The EU may struggle to meet its long-term goals on cutting the climate impact of transport, research by the European Environment Agency (EEA) indicates.
Greenhouse gas emissions from transport dropped by 3.3% in 2012 but long-term trends remain unclear due to the impact of the recession, the EEA said on Monday.
Emissions remain 20.5% above 1990 levels so a sharp decrease is required to meet the EU’s 60% reduction target by 2050.
