Little progress had been made to narrow down the options in a draft text for a new climate agreement as the UN climate conference in Lima entered its final day.

A decision on the information that countries will need to provide on their emission reduction pledges under the agreement was also left to be finalised in the last day.

Negotiators had not made “any progress" on how to proceed in talks on the draft text that forms the basis for a new climate agreement to be finalised in Paris next year, the co-chair leading negotiations on the issue told a stock-taking plenary on Thursday evening.
