Pressure is mounting on France to reverse its ban on BPA in food contact materials such as tins and plastic containers after EU scientists deemed consumers’ current exposure to the endocrine disrupting chemical to be safe.

The UK government is pushing France to scrap the ban, which began on 1 January, and is also lobbying the European Commission to make France roll back the measure. The UK’s main argument is that the ban is unnecessary, ENDS understands.
