Emissions generated by the companies involved in the EU’s emissions trading scheme (ETS) fell by between 4.5% and 4.9% in 2014, new data shows.
Analysts at Bloomberg New Energy Finance and NGO Sandbag said that the new installation-level emission data published by the European Commission on Wednesday indicated a total decline of 4.9%. But Point Carbon estimated that it was closer to 4.5%.
The difference is accounted for by the methodology used to make adjustments where the data is incomplete.
