The European water sector has urged Brussels to ensure that the TTIP trade deal with the US currently under negotiation will not undermine EU protection of water from hazardous substances.

TTIP must allow chemicals, including American products, to be restricted or banned for use in Europe as is the case under current rules, said EurEau, which represents drinking and waste water services in 27 EU countries.
